What Is Malamala Beach Club?

Malamala is an island in Fiji that is home to just a beach club! It’s not a resort: the whole island is a beach club and it is the first Island Beach Club in the world!

Malamala Island is located in the Mamanuca Island group and is very accessible from Fiji’s main island. Malamala Beach Club is only a short 25 minute ferry ride from Port Denarau and is often called Fiji’s best located island, so it should definitely be at the top of your list when planning your Fiji day trips!

Why Should You Visit Malamala Beach Club?

Malamala Beach Club honestly feels like a dream and you won’t want to leave!

As soon as you get off the ferry you are welcomed by lovely friendly staff and to the sound of great tunes. When you’re walking down the jetty towards the sandy island make sure to look down into the crystal clear water and you’ll see lots of bright blue starfish and fish underneath – it’s magical!

You can choose to reserve a poolside bed beforehand for $50FJD or you can find sunloungers on the sand a little further from the pool at no extra cost. There is so much space around the island for people to spread out on sunloungers and deckchairs that you don’t need to worry about rushing off the boat to find a good spot.

Alternatively, if you want a romantic or quiet day away from the crowds and music, reserve one of the exclusive Beachside Cabana on the other side of the island for $85FJD. The Beachside Cabanas come with a phone for you to contact your own private butler for food and drinks, and you can enjoy views of the beautiful white sand beach.

Around the infinity pool is where most people spend the majority of their time on the island as this is where the music and the action is. Around the pool there is a really nice Beach Club atmosphere with great music and and plenty of space to get your Instagrammable photos in the pool overlooking the ocean and surrounding islands with your cocktail in your hand.

You’ll find lots of yummy cocktails on the menu! The Drunken Coconut is the signature cocktail here at Malamala and it tastes delicious! To get the most value for money when it comes to drinks, you’re best to do the ‘Fiji Five’ Cocktail Deal – order any 5 cocktails for $99FJD!

Whilst the vibe is great around the pool, make sure to spend some time checking out the rest of the island and all it has to offer as it is so beautiful!

A stroll around the whole island will take less than 20 minutes, and make sure to go for a swim in the crystal clear sea! Snorkelling gear, kayaks and stand up paddleboards are free to use here, so make sure to fit that in to your day too! It only takes around 5-10 minutes to kayak around the whole island!

If you’re feeling brave you can even jump off the end of the jetty into the sea! Near the jetty is where you’ll find lots of coral and coloured fish which is great for snorkelling!

What Is There To Do At Malamala Beach Club?

Sip a cocktail in the pool and enjoy Fiji time, go stand up paddle boarding, go kayaking, have a massage, lie in a hamock under the shade of a palm tree, jump off the end of the jetty and go snorkeling, there is so much to do (or not – whichever you prefer!).

If you plan to do paddle boarding, take note of the tide times. To ensure you don’t hit the rocks and coral, at low tide you aren’t able to paddle board so just check with the staff what time you can paddle board so you don’t miss out!

Malamala has free wifi so you can upload all your photos in real time. There is also a small souvenir shop with Malamala t-shirts and caps, and there are also showers so you can get freshened up before the ferry back.

Malamala is a Beach Club, not a resort so there is no option to stay overnight on the island sadly, as waking up there would just be incredible!
